1951-54 SUV-Burban
In this design, modern meets old-school – as I take an iconic body style and interpret it in a contemporary SUV way.
The grill is inspired by a 1951-53 horizontal grill. Louvers are thermostatically controlled to open or close which aids in warming up or cooling the engine. Original bumper fragment closes grill at the bottom.
The roof has an integrated visor with NACA ducts to help down force. Doors are opened by a common central handle and slide on rail armatures – much like you see in van doors. The “C” pillar stays at stock height; “A” pillar is chopped two inches and leaned back. Running boards are filled to mimic contemporary ground effects.
“Bowtie” on hood is color popped red – a reference to Chevrolet's tradition of calling out 427's back in the day. But this one packs a 572. Rims are 17-inches deep “chrome reverse” style with 70's base model “big moon” caps – with a painted red bowtie accent, matching the one on the hood.
